    The City of Kalamunda has received two (2) development applications seeking planning approval for an increase in the number of children and modified operating hours at existing child care premises at the abovementioned properties. It is important to note that these development applications are seeking subsequent approval for the current operating conditions of the child care premises given that number of children and operating hours that have already commenced at the subject sites in accordance with Service Approvals issued by the Government of Western Australia Department of Local Government and Communities Education and Care Regulatory Unit dated 23 January 2014 and 12 June 2014, respectively. However, planning approval is still required for the child care premises to continue to operate with the increased number of children and modified operating hours.

    While the City has received two (2) separate retrospective applications, the two subject sites are operated by a single child care provider. Details regarding each proposal are summarised as follows:

    • The number of children approved at the site being increased from 10 to 43, in line with how the centre currently operates;
    • Modify the approved hours of operation of 3:30pm – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, to the current operating hours (In line with how the centre currently operates) of:
      • 6:30am – 8:30am Monday to Friday (before school care);
      • 2:30pm – 6:30pm Monday to Friday (after school care); and
      • 7:00am – 6:30pm (vacation care – week days only, not including public holidays).
    • The construction of an existing shed, timber deck structure and other minor structures on the site as provided on the applicant’s plans; and
    • Some employee parking is proposed to be accommodated within Lot 54 (59) Coolinga Road, Lesmurdie.
