Outcome

At the 25 August 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council resolved to adopt the proposed Local Planning Scheme Amendment 103 to Local Planning Scheme No.3.

Background

Planning & Development Act 2005
Local Planning Scheme No. 3

In accordance with Clause 6.6 of Local Planning Policy 11 – Public Notification of Planning Proposals, the City of Kalamunda is seeking preliminary comment on proposed Local Planning Scheme No.3 Amendment No.103 prior to council considering the Amendment for formal advertising. The Amendment proposes:

  • Reclassifying Lot 613 (4) Varley Street, Lesmurdie (known as Reserve 29190) from a ‘Local Open Space’ local scheme reserve to a ‘Civic and Community’ local scheme reserve as depicted on the Scheme Amendment Map.
  • Introducing a new ‘Civic and Community’ local scheme reserve on the Scheme Map legend.

Lot 613 (4) Varley Street, Lesmurdie is a crown title reserve which was vested to the Lesmurdie Baptist Church for the purpose of ‘Church Purposes – Community and Recreational facility’. The proposed change in reserve classification will remove an anomaly under the scheme where the designated purpose for a reserve is not consistent with the reserve zone. Furthermore the change in classification will facilitate the future development of a multi-purpose community centre on the site.

Preliminary plans the multi-purpose community centre have been made publically available, to provide context to Amendment 103. Documents are available for consideration via the document library.

Alternatively, the documentation can be viewed at the City of Kalamunda Administration Centre located at 2 Railway Road, Kalamunda during office during business hours.
