2024/25 Fire Hazard Reduction Notice issued
All works in the notice must be completed by 1 November 2024 and maintained up to and including 31 March 2025.
- Read the Fire Hazard Reduction Notice and prepare your property ahead of the bushfire season.
- Install and maintain any firebreaks around your property.
- Reduce fuel load - slash grasses to a height no greater than 50mm.
- Clear gutters of leaves and debris.
- Maintain an Asset Protection Zone (APZ), a reduced fuel zone within 20 meters from the outermost point of the building.
- Burn piles - always check the City's burning restrictions and remember to plan before you burn.
- Take your garden waste to the Walliston Transfer Station or order a skip bin (residents are eligible for up to 3 skip bins per financial year).
- Arrange a property pre-season inspection with a City Community Bushfire Preparedness Officer by calling 9257 or email enquiries@kalamunda.wa.gov.au.
- Attend a Bushfire Ready Group Street Meet and connect with your local community to stay informed.
- Attend a live Burn SMART demonstration.
- Understand the EmergencyWA alerts and Australian Fire Danger Ratings System.
- Sign up to the City's SMS register for information on Total Fire Bans and transition through burning periods.
- Stay up to date on weather forecasts and warnings.
Make a bushfire plan for you and your family.
- Leave early - the safest option.
- Stay and defend - only if you're well prepared.
- Have a plan for your pets and livestock.
