Consultation has concluded

The City of Kalamunda is working to transform its community spaces to meet the needs of both young and old. Cambridge Reserve is one of the locations we are in the process of reviewing for improvement.

In early 2018, we undertook community consultation and asked for your feedback, thoughts and vision for the reserve. We had a fantastic response from the community, with over 60 residents providing input.

We listened to this feedback and incorporated it into a draft concept plan for the reserve.

Key Features of the Concept Design

Key features of the plan include revegetated areas to enhance the reserve’s natural feel, an activity and playground hub with half basketball court, barbeque facilities, a path network, shaded areas with seating nodes, open sections of parkland, fenced dog exercise area, lighting, irrigation for high-use areas, stormwater catchment, living stream, boardwalk and more. A copy of the Concept Design is available for viewing in our Document Library on the right hand side of this page.

Funding of the Upgrades

The envisaged improvements do not currently have a funding source. The draft concept plan identifies an opportunity to transfer a section of Cambridge Reserve for the purposes of residential and aged care development, the proceeds of which will be used to fund these improvements. All funding from the development will be directly invested into the reserve and surrounding open spaces.

In addition to the funding opportunities noted above, the residential and aged care component of the draft concept plan will facilitate a residential interface whilst meeting the growing demand for facilities in our City.

The process

Before we proceed, we want your thoughts on the concept design! To do so, please complete our survey below. The survey closes 14 August 2018.

Once the feedback period closes, the concept plan will be reviewed and finalised based on the input provided. The finalised plan will be put to Council for consideration and approval.

Once approved by Council, the portion proposed for development will undergo a scheme amendment, supported by an environmental assessment report. These scheme amendments will require Council approval.

Pending all approvals, the finalised plans will be put forward to the Minister for Lands and Western Australian Planning Commission for endorsement.
