Corymbia Multicultural Festival 2020 Survey: Community Engagement Report


The City of Kalamunda undertook community consultation to understand the level of support of and

interest in the Corymbia Multicultural Festival 2020 to assess the public enjoyment of the event.

Consultation ran from 29 February to 17 March 2020 and was supported by an integrated

marketing campaign; published on the City’s online engagement platform, and website and

promoted via the City’s social media channels, with advertisements in the local newspaper.

Additionally, a City of Kalamunda tent was located at the festival with survey copies available, and

roving staff with hard and soft copies of the survey for the festival attendees. The survey received 98

submissions.


Community Survey Results

Out of the 98 responses, 62% were female, 37% male, and 1% undisclosed. 40% were between the

ages of 26-45, followed by 15% in the 46-55 age bracket, and 11% in the 16-25 bracket. The top four

responses came from the suburbs of Forrestfield, High Wycombe, Lesmurdie and Wattle Grove, with

28% of visitors coming from outside of the City of Kalamunda.


Key Findings

 57% of attendees rated their experiences as having ‘Loved it!’

 69% attended the festival as a Family with Young children, and 71% attended for Family

Entertainment

 Word of Mouth attributed for 41% of the attendees awareness of the event, followed by

Social Media at 32%

 The majority of people attended for the afternoon only; 55% of people, while 28% stayed for

the entire event
