Amendment 111 to Local Planning Scheme No. 3 – Lot 500

The City has received a development application for a proposed change of use to a brewery and distillery (production only) at 680 Canning Road, Carmel.

In accordance with Clause 64 of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 the proposal is required to be advertised for public comment for a period of twenty-eight (28) days.

The key elements of the proposal are as follows:

  1. 3 staff members.
  2. 3 parking bays provided on site for staff.
  3. Internal operating hours are 24hrs/day (hours vary considerably depending on brewing process).
  4. Forklift operating hours are Monday to Sunday, 9:00AM-5:00PM.
  5. An existing Cidery & Distillery is currently operating on site.
  6. This proposal seeks occupy a portion of the existing Cidery & Distillery building. No external works are proposed.

The following documents have been provided with the application:

  1. Site Plan
  2. Bushfire Attack Level Assessment (BAL) - 680 Canning Road, Carmel– determined rating of BAL 29
  3. Bushfire Management Statement - 680 Canning Road, Carmel
  4. Emergency Evacuation Plan
  5. Risk Management Plan for Flammable On Site Hazards
  6. Emergency Procedure

It is Council’s policy to give affected landowners an opportunity to comment on the proposal, if you wish to make a submission on the proposal or would like to view the plans and documents please do so via our website under the “Have Your Say” section at www.kalamunda.wa.gov.au, by close of business Monday the 12th of June 2023. If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the City’s Approval Services where a hard copy submission form can be arranged. All submissions received on the proposal will be responded to in the Responsible Authority Report.
