Why has a Draft Tourism Development Strategy been developed?

    Being only 30 minutes from Perth CBD, Kalamunda, as part of Perth Hills, is increasing in popularity as a tourist attraction.

    The City is developing its inaugural Tourism Development Strategy (the Strategy), to identify opportunities for growth and develop future strategies and plans to support the growth of local tourism.

    The draft Strategy has been developed in conjunction with the community and was endorsed by Council for the purpose of public advertising on 26 February 2019.

    What has been done so far?

    • Tourism Reference Group formed to guide the development of the plan.
    • Extensive community consultation undertaken throughout 2018, through surveys, submissions and workshops.
    • Development of the Draft Tourism Development Strategy, in conjunction with the community through the Tourism Reference Group.
    • Draft Tourism Development Strategy approved by Council for the purpose of public advertising on 26 February 2019.

    The City of Kalamunda is encouraging residents and visitors to provide feedback. You can do so in the following ways:

    What will happen next?

    Following the feedback period, the City of Kalamunda and Tourism Reference Group will review input and amend the draft Strategy as necessary.

    The final Strategy will then be put to Council for final adoption in mid-2019.
