Project Summary
Construction of a new Men's Shed in the foothills. Men's sheds play a vital role in the health and wellbeing for men in the community.
- Construction of workshop (for woodworking and metalwork), including office space, meeting area, tea preparation area and Unisex Ambulant Toilet (UAT).
- Fenced yard area for external storage.
- To be located in part of gravelled area near Kalamunda Districts Hockey Club and Forrestfield Flyers Teeball Pavilion.
Project Updates
Foam walls, dividing walls and power outlets have now been installed. Over the next weeks the kitchen will undergo construction. The project is on schedule.
Construction of the Men’s Shed continues to progress well. All sheeting on the shed has been fitted and external doors are now in place. The City has encountered some delays due to kitchen fittings and delivery of the barn door from South Australia.
Solar options are now being investigated, and floors are scheduled to be burnished from the 22 April.
Construction of the Men’s Shed is progressing well. Structural steel has been delivered to site and the installation is underway. The City’s aim is to have all external cladding completed by end of April. The City recorded a timelapse of the concrete pad being laid. You can view it here.
Works onsite is progressing well. All underground services are now finalised and the concrete pad pour was completed on the 5 March. The City’s aim is to start structural steel installation mid-March.
Menshed – a ritual smoking ceremony took place on the 28 of January to ensure the cultural safety of the site.
Works have now started with temporary fencing being installed, stormwater well installed and slab preparation underway. Over the next few weeks, the City aims to have piping installed.
A tender for construction is expected to be issued before Christmas, with the contract to be awarded in the first quarter of 2025. Works are anticipated to begin on-site in late 2025.
