Project Summary

Construction of a new Men's Shed in the foothills. Men's sheds play a vital role in the health and wellbeing for men in the community.

  • Construction of workshop (for woodworking and metalwork), including office space, meeting area, tea preparation area and Unisex Ambulant Toilet (UAT).
  • Fenced yard area for external storage.
  • To be located in part of gravelled area near Kalamunda Districts Hockey Club and Forrestfield Flyers Teeball Pavilion.

Project Updates

Works onsite is progressing well. All underground services are now finalised and the concrete pad pour was completed on the 5 March. The City’s aim is to start structural steel installation mid-March.

Menshed – a ritual smoking ceremony took place on the 28 of January to ensure the cultural safety of the site.

Works have now started with temporary fencing being installed, stormwater well installed and slab preparation underway. Over the next few weeks, the City aims to have piping installed.

A tender for construction is expected to be issued before Christmas, with the contract to be awarded in the first quarter of 2025. Works are anticipated to begin on-site in late 2025.
