The City of Kalamunda is seeking nominations for Kalamunda Environmental Advisory Committee

Nominations Open: 5pm on Friday, 12 November 2021

The City of Kalamunda is seeking nominations for the Kalamunda Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee (KESAC).

The KESAC will provide Council with support as requested in the City’s progress towards becoming a more environmentally sustainable community recognising the impacts of Climate Change.

The City is currently seeking nominations to fill five (5) community representative position.

Objectives are:

  1. Assist the Council by providing advice in relation to draft strategies, actions and plans in addressing Climate Change and its impact upon the community at large;
  2. Provide the Council with advice and feedback regarding community engagement activities undertaken by the City in this area
  3. Upon request by the Council or City undertake specific investigations, tasks or review of matters related to:
    1. Biodiversity Protection and Enhancement
    2. Urban Forest Canopy
    3. Potable and Non-Potable Water Management
    4. Carbon Footprint reduction
    5. Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery
    6. Other issues in addressing long term sustainability for the City and its Community
    7. Other matters referenced in the Kalamunda Clean and Green Local Environment Strategy 2019-2029
  4. Act as champions within the community for City environmental and sustainability initiatives in this area
  5. Provide advice to the Council on emerging issues and opportunities relating to environmental and sustainability matters

The Advisory Committee is made up of six-seven (6-7) members including:

  • One Elected Members.
  • Five Community Representatives, residing in the district.
  • If required and suitable, a professional expert on the matter of climate change, who may or may not be a resident within the District.

Term of Appointment: up to 2 years

  • Read, Understand and Agree to the Terms of Reference (See document library)
  • Read, Understand and Agree to the Policy (See document library)
