Consultation has concluded
Outcome
The proposed works were approved and have been scheduled to be completed before the commencement of Term 1, 2021.
Background
The City of Kalamunda is excited to be working with the Department of Education to improve school parking and child safety in Gooseberry Hill with a new Kiss ’n Drive zone coming to Gooseberry Hill Primary School early in 2021.
The new Kiss ‘n Drive zone will make it safer for students moving to and from school; easier for parents to pick up and drop off their children; and will reduce congestion and the number of patrons parking on verges and streets, during peak periods.
The Department of Education is scheduling works to create a new Kiss ’n Drive zone at Gooseberry Hill Primary School (Lot 420 (24) Ledger Road, Gooseberry Hill) commencing in December 2020 and due for completion February/March 2021.
The proposed works will be scheduled for outside of school hours to reduce the impact to the school community. Building works will comply fully with all legislative and regulatory requirements, including a Construction Environmental Management Plan approved by the Department of Health and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.
Some trees and vegetation will need to be removed to allow for the Kiss ’n Drive zone. Vegetation and trees outside the footprint of the final infrastructure shall be protected in accordance with AS 4970 Protection of Trees on Development Sites. Existing verges will not be disturbed beyond the extent of work.
Please direct any enquiries to the Department of Education by contacting the Senior Project Officer, Capital Works and Maintenance on 9264 4586 or Principal, Gooseberry Hill Primary School at gooseberryhill.ps@education.wa.edu.au
