Update February 2022:

City of Kalamunda you really showed up with the name love for our pre-loved! Thank you to all who participated in naming our new shop ‘Second Chance’. It’s a beauty!

The Shop will provide items with a second life that might otherwise end up in landfill. It’s now over to the epic team at Workpower. Be sure to drop in, check out the range of items on offer, and say G’day to the legends running the shop.

Officially opened on Friday 4th March 2022!

What’s in a Name… The City of Kalamunda is partnering with Workpower to create a community reuse shop at Walliston Transfer Station. This shop will allow the public to purchase items that have been discarded by others and would have gone to landfill. As they say – “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure”. Proceeds will support the efforts Workpower in helping our community. We expect to open this shop in January 2022.

The City is keen to hear your excellent ideas for what we should name the new Community Re-Use Shop at the Walliston Transfer Station. The Shop is expected to open soon and will provide items with a second life that might otherwise end up in landfill. We really have no boundaries on what name you can suggest apart from that it needs to be able to ‘slip off the tongue’ so our branding and advertising is simple and memorable.

The shop will be proudly managed by Workpower 🦸‍♀️, which promotes employment for people with disability.

The purpose of this shop is to encourage recycling and repurposing of our items. Our shop will be located at the Walliston Transfer Station and will sell a wide range of previously loved items at a discounted price. The Shop is expected to open soon and will provide items with a second life that might otherwise end up in landfill, helping to divert the maximum quantity of materials from landfill as possible whilst providing our community with the opportunity to shop collections of usable items such as furniture, building materials, clothes, kitchenware, outdoors equipment, etc!

👉 Call for name suggestions: closed Monday 20 December 2021, 5.00pm.

The following names have been shortlisted and we want your say!

  • Arch of Reloveables
  • Hidden Treasures
  • Second Chance
  • The Treasure Chest
  • Walliston Recycling Shop

👉 Voting on shortlist: Closed Monday 31 January 2022, 5,00pm.

👉 Name announcement: Now! It is named 'Second Chance'
