Shortlisted names for voting

The following rationales were offered by the community when submitting their nominations.

Balgore Rotary Skate Park

“This is Noongar for gum leaf”.

The Coolamon Rotary Skate Park

“Coolamon is the Noongar word for Bowl which is perfect because there is a bowl in the skatepark and it also has the word “Cool” in it as well”.

Kalamunda Rotary Skate Park

“There’s only one Kalamunda* and it won’t be confused as to its location for those in the Shire’s suburbs. You might have a future star train there and a name to reflect where they started would be appropriate”.

Mandjar Rotary Skate Park

“The name includes recognition of the first nation people. The meaning of Mandjar (meeting place) would be very appropriate in today’s world of TV, video games etc. It would also be a great place to meet and socialise”.

Rotary Kala Skate

“Short, sharp and to the point. Kalamunda is an indigenous name and identifies the area the park is located. Describes where the park is and what it does”.

Rotary SkateMunda

“It’s a skate park in Kalamunda”.

*Kalamunda is derived from the Noongar words ‘cala’ meaning ‘home’ and ‘munda’ meaning ‘forest’ or ‘bush’.

Vote for your favourite today! Public voting closes 5pm Friday 10 November 2023.
