UPDATE: At the 15 December 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting, Councillors adopted Kalamunda Community Centre as the name for the new centre. Many thanks to everyone who sent in their suggestions and voted!
The City is calling for residents to help name the new Kalamunda Community Centre at Jorgensen Park, currently undergoing significant refurbishment.
Kalamunda Mayor Margaret Thomas said, “The City of Kalamunda is thrilled works have begun on the $6.6 million rebuild of the Kalamunda Community Centre. The community was heavily involved in designing the new centre, and now it’s time to for them to come up with a name.”
Residents are invited to submit their name suggestions through the City’s website. Or printed forms, detailing your suggested name, can be returned to the CEO, City of Kalamunda, PO Box 42, Kalamunda WA 6926 by the closing date.
The submission period will close 30 April 2020, after which an assessment of the names will be undertaken. A shortlist will then be put back to the community to vote**.
* The centre is funded from the Federal Government ($1 Million), Lotterywest ($2.5 Million) and the State Government of Western Australia ($3 Million) with a $150,000 contribution from the Kalamunda Community Learning Centre. **Subject to Council approval.
