Background
The Name the Suburb Competition is a project that commenced in August 2018 (Phase 1), with Phase 2 commencing in April to end of May 2019. For the 2019 vote, residents were asked to vote on the five shortlisted names, or had an option to vote 'do not change names'.
The survey received 283 responses, with Quenda Grove proving the most popular name with 80 votes, followed by 65 votes to 'do not change suburb names' and Smokebush ranking third with 66 votes.
In August 2019 the City wrote to landowners in the Forrestfield North Structure Plan area in August 2019 and asked them to confirm their preference. Out of 234 properities mailed, 54 responses were recieved with 14 voting to change the name to Quenda Grove, 39 wishing to remain the same and one (1) being neutral.
NOTE the results of the Community Engagement for the name of the Forrestfield North District Structure Plan Area.
AUTHORISE the Chief Executive Officer to provide a copy of the report to Landgate for consideration by the Geographic Names Committee.
REQUEST the Chief Executive Officer to write to Landgate and advise that Council would like the suburb names to stay the same.
