What’s in a name?

The City has developed a draft policy regarding Naming our Places and Spaces and we want to hear what you think. Yes, this is your chance to tell us what you like ... or maybe let us know if something isn’t clear! We truly believe it’s important that you have your say on what’s happening in, and around, your City. What are you waiting for - have your say today!

We’ve used your ideas alongside the “Policies and Standards for Geographical Naming in Western Australia” policy to shape our own policy for Naming of Parks, Reserves, Streets and Infrastructure. We now need you to take a look and let us know what you think.

Please ensure you have read Naming of Parks, Reserves, Streets and Infrastructure policy, as well as the Policies and Standards for Geographical Naming in Western Australia, prior to taking the survey.

Place names (toponyms, or geographic nomenclature) provide us with a reliable method of identifying a location.

They provide us with a sense of belonging and define what we value.

The City is developing a policy on the naming of parks, reserves, streets and infrastructure, to ensure a consistent approach, and provide a clear framework and guidelines.
