The Plants for Residents Program is back for 2026!

The City of Kalamunda is excited to bring back its much‑loved Plants for Residents Program (PFR) in 2026, following the success of last year’s refreshed format. This year’s program will again offer pre‑selected native plant packs, with 4 packs to choose from, that are designed to be waterwise, low‑maintenance and perfect for gardens across the City. Plant varieties may shift slightly based on nursery supply, but all packs will continue to support the program’s environmental goals.

What’s changed?

You spoke, and we listened. Feedback from our community has highlighted equity concerns with our PFR delivery model. The ‘first-come, first-serve’ online system benefit some but may create barriers for others. To ensure everyone has a fair opportunity, we have shifted to an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. This change allows us to reach a more diverse audience while continuing to deliver on the environmental strategies shaped by your input.

Expressions of Interest Open 13 April 2026

Plant packs

Each pack has been designed to achieve specific environmental objectives and to create a fairer and simpler process for residents. The ‘pick-and-select’ option from previous years has been removed to ensure all plants are distributed evenly, minimising disappointment.

Each plant has been carefully selected based on waterwise and low-maintenance requirements, making them ideal for gardens within the City of Kalamunda Local Government area. Please note that individual species may vary due to propagation success and nursery growing conditions, and suitable substitutes will be provided to achieve the pack’s goals.
