    City To Re-open Zig Zag Scenic Drive to Vehicles During Day from 1 July
    At the April Ordinary Council Meeting, Council endorsed the City’s recommendation to re-open the one-way road from 11am to early evening each day to better understand the situation. The City of Kalamunda will reopen the Zig Zag Scenic Drive in Gooseberry Hill during the day from 1 July 2021 for a 12-month trial. Throughout the trial, City Rangers will open the gates to vehicles at 11am each day and close the top gate at 8:30pm each evening. They will then drive the Zig Zag to direct people out before locking the exit gate. [read the full media release notice here...]

    Update: 25 March 2021

    The City has now reviewed community feedback on the future of the Zig Zag Scenic Drive - more than 1330 submissions were received! Copies of the Community Engagement Report and the Community Engagement Report Overview can be downloaded from the document library.

    What's next? A report will be presented for consideration at the 27 April 2021 Ordinary Council Meeting (OCM).

    Prior to the April OCM, City staff will present the report at the 13 April 2021 Public Agenda Briefing Forum and answer any questions. Community members are invited to attend the April PAB to listen to the presentation, ask questions and make statements.   • Notice of Proposed Road Closure: Zig Zag Scenic Drive

    The City of Kalamunda invites public comment on the proposed closure of Zig Zag Scenic Drive between Ocean View Parade and Ridge Hill Road for a period of six (6) months.

    The closure is planned to come into effect from the 30 May 2020, to resolve ongoing issues relating to hooning and antisocial activity in the area. The road will remain accessible as a pathway to pedestrians and cyclists.

    The City of Kalamunda invites public comment on the proposed permanent closure of the laneway between Canning Road, Burt Street and the Kalamunda Bus Station.

    It is proposed that the laneway (which is road reserve) be permanently closed and amalgamated with the adjoining freehold properties.

    Proposed One-Way Traffic Treatment

    The City of Kalamunda has developed several options to address safety issues on Swindells Lane between Railway Road and Burt Road in Kalamunda. The purpose of the proposed one-way system from the south-east terminus at Railway Road to the north-west at Burt Street is to address road safety, way finding and manoeuvring along this section of road.

  • Proposed Traffic Calming on Pomeroy Road, Lesmurdie

    The City of Kalamunda has developed a concept plan for intersection and traffic calming treatments on Pomeroy Road to address road safety and vehicle speeding concerns.

    The proposed changes are:

    1. A slow point on Pomeroy Road west of McNabb Place.
    2. Creating vehicle deflection at the intersection of Pomeroy Road and Pruiti Crescent, which will reduce vehicle speeds.
    3. Creating vehicle deflection at the intersection of Pomeroy Road and Reid Road.

    The City of Kalamunda invites public comment on the proposed realignment of the Canning Road and Canning Mills Road road reserve, Canning Mills.

    In order to realign the road reserve, the City proposes to permanently close the portions of road reserve no longer required and to dedicate the portions of land required as road.

    The proposed road reserve realignment is required to ensure that the existing constructed road is within the road reserve. The realignment is also required to accommodate the realignment of Canning Mills Road to the west of the Canning Mills Road/Canning Road intersection, to remove vehicle impact from the historic cobblestones in the vicinity. The cobblestones are the original cobblestones laid when the Canning Mills townsite was first established, and led into the timber mill.

  • Milner Road/Maida Vale Road Intersection, High Wycombe – Traffic Treatment Options

    The City of Kalamunda has received safety, noise and vibration concerns relating to heavy vehicle usage at the Milner Road/Maida Vale Road intersection in High Wycombe. To address these concerns, the City is investigating three traffic treatment options to help to reduce the number of heavy vehicles using this intersection.

    The City is mindful of delivering a traffic treatment suitable to the needs of the whole community and as such would like to know which treatment option you would prefer to see implemented.
