This survey is designed to assist in the development of a Significant Tree policy, for trees on private property. The policy is an important component of the City’s philosophy of protecting natural heritage, and of our vision “Connected Communities, Valuing Nature and Creating our Future Together". Many individual and groups of trees hold significant value for their aesthetic, ecological, environmental and cultural ties.
The Significant Tree policy is vital so that the City has a single set of guidelines for defining all significant trees on private property. It is imperative that we have one system of measurement that can be applied to all trees that are included for consideration.
So! How should we define: What is a Significant Tree?
