Consultation has concluded
In April 2018, the State Government released the North East Sub-Regional Planning Framework (the Framework), which indicates that the Wattle Grove South area shown below has been identified as an Urban Expansion/Investigation area. The Framework and the recommendations are now adopted as a position of the State Government. Planning for areas identified as Urban Expansion/Investigation is commonly undertaken by Local Government. The State Government has expressed its desire that Local Governments lead the planning process to ensure there remains fairness and transparency while achieving sensible planning outcomes for landowners and the broader community.
At the City of Kalamunda Ordinary Council Meeting held 24 July 2018, Council considered the Wattle Grove South Feasibility Study. The purpose of the Study was to investigate potential planning options for the area, which is generally bound by Tonkin Highway to the west, Welshpool Road East to the north, and Kelvin Road, Judith Road, Fontano Road and the City's border with the City of Gosnells to the East.
In considering the Study, Council resolved to:
1. NOTE the Wattle Grove South Feasibility Study, as outlined in Attachment 1.
2. SUPPORT continuing with the next phases of planning, subject to community consultation on the land use options as part of the preparation of the draft District Structure Plan.
The City is inviting you to share what you value about the area as it currently exists and what your aspirations are for the future. You can do so by completing the survey below. The survey will be open until 5pm, 10 October 2018.
Following the feedback period, the City will review the results and prepare a report on the findings which will guide the next steps in the process. Your input is important to allow the City and Council to develop an understanding of the views of the Wattle Grove South community.
