Kalamunda Futures is the City's strategic framework for delivering services to young people aged 0–25, focusing on empowerment, connection, activity, and representation.

Community Engagement

The plan was developed through two phases of community engagement:

• Phase One (Oct 2021 – Jan 2022): Gathered initial feedback to inform the draft plan
• Phase Two (Dec 2022 – Feb 2023): Sought feedback on the draft plan

Engagement activities included surveys, workshops, and events, ensuring that young people's voices were central to the plan's development.

Key Focus Areas

• Empowered: Providing tools and support for young people to find purpose
• Connected: Ensuring young people are informed and part of a community network
• Active: Encouraging participation in recreational, cultural, and community activities
• Represented: Involving young people in community decision-making processes

The final plan reflects the aspirations and feedback of the youth community, guiding the City's engagement and service delivery for young people over the next five years.

Background

Council resolved to adopt the Kalamunda Futures: Youth Plan 2023-2028 at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 18 April 2023.

As a result of the consultation, the draft plan received 98 submissions and was widely promoted online through social media and the City’s website, via existing networks including local schools and services, and via nine (9) face-to-face pop-up events.

The City has used the feedback from the recent consultation to develop the draft Kalamunda Futures: Youth Plan 2023-2028, and It’s now over to you to let us know what you think of the plan and the proposed actions.
